국립창작스튜디오는 국내 대표창작지원기관으로서 국내외 작가들을 대상으로 공간지원과 활발한 문화교류를 추진하여 다양한 국적의 예술가들이 서로 소통하고 교류할 수 있는 장으로서 역할을 해왔다. 올해는 개관 10주년을 맞아 국제 네트워크 중심지로서의 역할을 강화하기 위해 국제교류프로그램을 확대 실시하였다. 기존에 운영하던 <유네스코-아쉬버그 장학연수프로그램>과 <아시아퍼시픽 입주프로그램> 외에도 크로아티아와 우크라이나의 미술기관의 추천을 받은 젊고 유망한 작가들을 초청하여 한국과 동유럽간의 수교 20주년을 기념하고 양국간의 현대 미술 교류를 도모하였다.  이번 전시는 상반기 창동스튜디오가 추진한 국제교류프로그램에 참가한 7개국 9명의 해외작가들이 창동스튜디오에서 새롭게 창작한 결과물들을 선보이기 위해 기획되었다. 지난 3~5여개월 기간동안 창동에 머물렀던 다양한 국적(멕시코, 이스라엘, 일본, 인도네시아, 네팔, 크로아티아, 우크라이나)의 작가들은 스튜디오 밖 거리 곳곳에서부터 창조적 영감을 얻었다. 이제 창동을 떠나기 위해 또 다시 길 위에 서 있는 작가들의 지난 여정을 작품에서 확인할 수 있다. 회화를 비롯한 영상 및 설치, 그래피티까지 다양한 현대미술의 스펙트럼이 전시장 내부 뿐만이 아니라 스튜디오 곳곳에 설치될 예정이다.
